Today, I decided to take advantage of this sunny Sunday (for a change!) and take a walk in the woods. There is a lot of evidence of all the rains we’ve had, including the green lushness and loads of mud puddles! My local companions, Duke & Eddie, joined me on the excursion around the farm.

Our "older" Old English Sheepdog, Eddie, makes it as far as the cornfield and decides he's had enough exercise. He heads back home to wait for us in the shade of the Maple trees.
Duke seems to say, “C’mon, Mom 2!” (That’s what he calls me; it’s a long story!)
Duke’s ready to go home and join Eddie in the shade . . . after he shakes on me!!!

What Flower
Are You?

hi ruth….it looks so cool under those trees, with toes in the river! I really enjoyed strolling with you!
That was refreshing! It’s hot here today and we’re a little behind in rain, so I enjoyed both the shade and the rain-quenched earth through your stroll today. Thank you!
Linda and Aisling~you’re both so kind! Again, I wish I could send some this wetness your way!
I love the dogs, and their names! Aren’t you so, so lucky to have both a pond and a river! Does this mean you get migrating geese and ducks? Do the dogs go crazy trying to catch them? My dogs have a little stream which they plunk down in, but how they would love some deep water. :<)
Nan, it’s actually quite funny how our dogs came to these names. Our daughter named Duke after a favorite workhorse that has passed on and originally, Eddie’s name was “Chester.” We loved that name, but the problem was it was also my husband’s deceased grandfather’s name and it seemed irreverant. So, one of of nephews started calling him Eddie and it stuck because it fit him, I guess! They do love to swim and we have the occasional ducks and geese that Duke, especially, loves to chase. It’s even funnier when he’s chasing them as they’re flying in the air!
