My “Aloha Friday” question this Friday is . . .

What favorite holiday traditions do you and your family enjoy?

In other words, what’s a tradition that you and your family hold dear, that without which, the holidays would just not be the same?

My “Aloha Friday” question this Friday  is . . .

Do you have any big plans this weekend?

As for me, I’m heading into NYC with my daughter to meet our all-time,  favorite  blogger, Ree Drummond, aka The Pioneer Woman, at her book signing.

I’ll also be addressing baby shower invitations, Christmas shopping, and doing schoolwork.  I’m sure there won’t be enough hours for everything!  What about you?

Whatever you’re doing  this weekend, ENJOY!

TGIF (Actually a day late, but who’s counting?),  so that means it’s past time for . . .

My “Aloha Friday” question this week is:

 WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?

I’m so thankful that I’m a grandma-to-be, among a multitude of other things!

TGIF,  so that means it’s time for . . .

My “Aloha Friday” question this week is:

HOW ARE YOU DRESSING UP FOR HALLOWEEN?

If you’d like to participate in more Aloha Friday questions, click on over to  An Island Life for Kailani’s  “Aloha Friday.”

Thanks to everyone for your comments!

I have fond memories of dressing up along with our kids over the years. Some favoriters: “Material Girl,” aka Madona; Elvira, Scarecrow; Rastafarian; etc., etc.

Our daughter was always something pretty like a princess, bride, “Solid Gold dancer,” mermaid, etc. She can’t believe I dressed her up as Kermit on her first Halloween, but she was SO cute and she LOVED Kermit!

Our boys were cowboys, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” you name it.

Now, it’s “politically incorrect” to dress up in our elementary schools (although the high school kids can!), so I pretty much go with some tacky black and orange, Halloween-sweater vest theme, pumpkin earrings, spider accessories, etc., etc. We still have fun!!! (Now my daughter just laughs at my outfits. . . and says I remind her of Jamie Curtis on “Christmas with the Kranks.” Remember . . . “just let me go get my holiday vest!?!?!”

Hey, wait, Abbie dressed up at her high school this year, so maybe she’s as nutty as me. She was “Kanga” from Winnie the Pooh, complete with “Roo” in her pouch! How appropriate for my pregnant daughter! The fun doesn’t stop!!!

It’s Friday again ALREADY, so that means it’s time for . . .

My “Aloha Friday” question this week is:

DOES YOUR FAMILY HAVE ANY VERY FAVORITE MOVIES

THAT HAVE BECOME CLASSICS FOR YOU???

When our kids were growing up, we all came to love:

  • The Princess Bride
  • Christmas Vacation
  • The Great Outdoors
  • Overboard

Now that they’re adults (pretty much!), we still come together around these movies, especially around the holidays!

HOW ABOUT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY–WHAT ARE YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE MOVIES?  ONES YOU ENJOY SO MUCH  THAT YOU CAN QUOTE YOUR FAVORITE LINES?

For instance. . .

  • The Princess Bride–“As you wish!”
  • The Great Outdoors–“Big, b-i-g, b-i-g, BEAR!”
  • Overboard–“Everybody wants to be me!”

DO SHARE!!!!!!

It’s Friday again, so that means it’s time for . . .

In case you didn’t hear the GREAT NEWS, I’m going to be a grandmother, and I’ve just over the moon with happiness.  Catch up here with that news flash.  So . . .

My “Aloha Friday” question this week is:

DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR SOME FUN, **YOUNG** GRANDMOTHER NAMES???

(I know it’s the first grandchild who usually names

the grandparents, and I’m thinking I can help him/her along!)

It’s Friday again, so that means it’s time for . . .

My “Aloha Friday” question this week is:

 WHAT DOES ALL THE BACK-TO-SCHOOL

HOOPLA MEAN TO YOU???

As a kid, it meant summer was over for me.  Later, as a mother, it meant saying good-bye to summer fun and getting my kids equipped for a new, exciting, school year.  Now, as a teacher, my summer has pretty much been over for a couple of weeks as I’ve been in school, planning for the new school year.  As much as I love summer, I also love the deliciousness of a new school year, with new beginnings for all . . .
